The UK Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) report into the Bond Helicopter crash has shown the crew were resonsible for inadvertently impacting the ocean whilst attempting to land on a rig.Landing on oil rigs is a very demanding task - even for two pilots, but this is where rigorous training and even more rigorous SOP's come into play. The non-flying pilot should be looking OUT and the flying pilot should be looking at the instruments until the helicopter is stabilised on final approach. NEWS ARTICLE:
