Tuesday morning Kansas time - a Cessna Caravan registered to FedEx has crashed shortly after departing Mid-Continent Airport SW of Wichita, Kansas.

The aircraft experienced mechanical difficulties and the pilot was attempting to return to the airport when it impacted trees to the north of 47th Street, apparently on the extended center-line of runway 19R.

The pilot - the only occupant - was killed in the crash, according to Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
