Saturday 15th June 2013:

A pilot flying a homebuilt aircraft crashed his aircraft shortly after takeoff after experiencing an apparent engine failure. The aircraft crashed in the vicinity of the airport, near the intersection of Sorento and West Elverta Roads, near the town of Elverta.

The pilot was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition.
