The Piper PA-32 Cherokee 6 single engine aircraft had departed Hawkins Field Airport for a short 10 nautical mile flight (18 Km) to Raymond when it encountered engine problems. On attempting to return to the field, the aircraft crashed into a house just 1.5 Km south of the threshold of runway 34 at Hawkins Field. Three persons on board died at the scene.
