A Eurocopter AS350 Squirrel helicopter carrying 3 persons has crashed in the Indonesian Province of Papua on Saturday morning local time.

The helicopter was chartered by mining company Freeport-McMoRan and was carrying supplies destined for Tembagapura.  It is reported that the helicopter had encountered unfavourable weather enroute and was attempting to return for landing.  The emergency locator beacon has led searchers to a crash site.

The pilot and is a New Zealander employed by Kershaw Aviation Group of New Zealand. 2 passengers are believed to be employees of a food supplier.
