The pilot and sole occupant of a Beechcraft King Air B200 survived a crash landing about 800 meters short of the runway threshold of Chicago Executive Airport, NW of Chicago on Tuesday evening.

The aircraft landed on South Wolf Road adjacent to the Foxboro apartment buildings, hitting a tree and spinning 180 degrees before coming to a stop on the sidewalk. The pilot walked away from the crash site.

Reports suggest that the pilot reported problems on final approach.
