The single-engine Pipistrel Alpha Trainer crashed around 2am after reporting a low fuel state. The aircraft crash-landed, killing the 62 year old pilot and injuring the 22 year old passenger.

The aircraft was enroute from Indiana to Borger, Texas when the crash occurred around 25 miles away from the destination. It was also reported that the aircraft deployed a parachute prior to the accident. NTSB investigating.

Note – the below link shows an image that is not the aircraft involved in the crash. The Alpha trainer (see pic included in this report) is a tricycle gear, high-wing trainer.
