NTSB are investigating the crash of a LifeTeam Bell 206 Long Ranger that occurred at 11:16 PM last Thursday 6th June in Manchester, Kentucky USA.
3 personnel were killed as the helicopter impacted the ground as it approached to land at the helipad where it was based. Fog was reported in the area, although NTSB reports that the tail rotor was found some distance from the main wreckage.
NTSB also records the fact that Air Evac Life Team has experienced several fatal accidents in the last few years – -the latest occurring in 2010 when an Bell 206 crashed, killing all three staff members.
The Bell 206 type has been involved in 32 crashes in the U.S. since June 2011. Of these, 7 crashes involved 12 fatalities.
